At the beginning of the conference, Mr. Danzl, head of the Nuremberg task force, welcomed more than 300 conference attendees from 10 different Nations. Also 42 exhibitors were showing their products in the foyer of the fair’s Congress Centre-East. 40% of them were from abroad.
On the same day, about 100 experts of the German Police Academy took part in a convention nearby the conference location. During the conference’s breaks, attendants of both events had the opportunity to visit the exhibitors’ stands to review their goods and discuss latest developments of their products and equipment.
The previous day’s Amok of Winnenden has certainly left a profound impression on all attendants of the conference.
Eckhard Niebergall, president of the PiD asked all present to take part in a minute’s silence in commemoration of the victims of this terrible event.
Ralf Schmidt began the program with his presentation “Learned Lessons”. Referring to several case studies he pointed out that the subject “ambush” is increasingly becoming a serious matter for European police officers, too.
Future developments will show whether this topic will lead to important tactical consequences.
The program continued with speakers from Germany, UK, USA, Switzerland and France.

• Decision Making under Extreme Conditions (Steve Johnson, President International Association of Firearms Instructors, USA)
• Rapid Room-Entry for Patrol Officers (Ty Weaver, BLACKHAWK, USA)
• The Taser, Developments and Field experience in Switzerland (Dr. Martin Lory, Scientific Service, City-Police Zurich)
• The Use of Less Lethal Devices in France (Commandant Harald Wilmin, France).

The following day 85 participants were allowed to take part in practical training sessions.

The main subject “Rapid Room-Entry for Patrol Officers” is becoming more and more an important issue.
That’s why this part of the conference was already fully booked two weeks after being offered.

The participants were split up into 4 teams. Under close supervision of members of the PiD team and guest speakers each team then trained:

• the application of manual breaching tools and techniques under hazardous conditions
• the shooting under adverse light conditions
• restraining techniques and tactics for physical attacks
• practical training of less-lethal devices

In his closing address Eckhard Niebergall, president of PiD, thanked everyone for the professional and dedicated engagement of all speakers and the PiD team who made such a safe and interesting event possible.

Joe – welcome home and back on board!

In September 2007 our PiD-member Joe Willis went to Iraq with his unit.
Our thoughts and wishes were with him until he returned home to his family
in December 2008. And finaly we were able to take the yellow ribbons from
the apple tree outside of the POLIZEITRAINER-Office.

On behalf of all POLIZEITRAINER-members I want to thank everybody who supported
Joe with words, wishes and thoughts.

Please continue with your personal support for our Law Enforcement and Military fighters
against crime and terror and help to make this world a better place.
